Election Year Real Estate

As I sat glued to my television set watching the inauguration of America's 44th President, I couldn't help but wonder how this new face in the White House might affect the national real estate markets.  Conventional real estate wisdom holds that real estate markets generally see a marked upturn in the year following an election.  The American people as a whole are generally optimistic as new leadership takes over, and the election and swearing in of Barack Obama is no exception.  In fact, you could argue based on the overwhelming energy surrounding his campaign, and the record number of citizens that showed up on the National mall to be a part of the his toric inauguration, that people are even more optimistic than usual about this particular new President.

With new economic policies about to come into play, and with the resounding support of many of our nation's citizens, will the real estate market see a boost this year like it has in so many post-election years past?  Can the attitude of hope and change around the nation begin to turn things around?  The American people have a resilient nature and a feisty spirit.  maybe new leadership is exactly what we need to pull ourselves away from our recent pessimism and fight our way bak to the prosperity we saw a few years ago.
