According to polls taken by the National Association of Realtors, many prospective homebuyers start their search on the internet. Almost all who start on the web, continue to browse properties and neighborhoods on the internet even after they start working with a real estate agent. Given the obvious importance of the internet in the real estate purchasing process, as a buyer, you want to find a realtor who understands this modern aspect of real estate, and is comfortable using the internet to both advertise and communicate. How do you know if your realtor is internet savvy? Easy. First, find out if they have a website. It's 2009. If your realtor doesn't have their own website they are either not serious about their real estate career, or they are scared to learn new technologies. In today's changing market, do you really want an agent who is afraid of change? Then, find out where else your realtor has a web presence beyond just having a website. A realtor who is serious about having a professional image on the web will not only have a real estate website, but will also have a local neighborhood blog, a blog dedicated to his or her professional opinions on the local market, and even a video blog. Remember, the real estate market is dynamic, and is always changing. When you're ready to buy or sell a home, find a realtor who puts in the effort to keep up with the changes, and stays on the cutting edge of their industry!
