WHICH PGA RESTAURANTS WILL SURVIVE?

In the last couple of years, the retail space in Palm Beach Gardens greatly increased. With the introduction of Legacy Place and Downtown at the Gardens, the shopping and dining selections in the area grew rather quickly. All of the commercial developers seemed to have the notion in their heads that the PGA Boulevard area of the Gardens would turn into a bustling center because of the retail growth.

Fast forward a few years, and what has actually happend is more along the lines of the following: Legacy Place and Downtown at the Gardens were built, everyone got really excited, then shops and restaurants that started out with such high hopes began to fail. In the last year or so more than a few business have been forced to close their doors (Rosa Mexicano, the Grape, and City Kitchen come to mind), while others (The Yardhouse and Starbucks) are still going strong.

So why are some business having to close their doors while others are thriving? The

Palm Beach Post featured an online article about this issue. One of the readers commented that "There’s simply not even close to enough people to support all that high end retail/dining on PGA." While I agree that blame can be placed on the out-of-whack population-to-business ratio, the PGA can still support SOME of this business. WHAT IS MAKING ONE BUSINESS FAIL WHERE ANOTHER IS THRIVING?
