Singer Island is named after Paris Singer. Born into family fame as one of the heirs to the Singer Sewing Machine fortune, Paris Singer set his sights on land development in south Florida. He partnered with Addison Mizner and developed Palm Beach before turning his focus to Singer Island.
Today, Singer Island homes are divided into three main areas: the high rise oceanfront condos on the north end, the single family homes of Palm Beach Shores on the south end, and the cluster of five subdivisions in between (including Sugar Sands, Yacht Harbor Manor, Harbor Estates, Palm Beach Isles, and Pine Point).
This is one of the most popular places for snowbirds to buy winter vacation homes. In Singer Island, one can find many retirees enjoying the balmy breezes on this little piece of paradise between the Intracoastal Waterway and the Atlantic Ocean. Singer Island homes are only a short walk away from the famous white sand beaches of the area and enjoy every amenity available in Palm Beach while retaining the relaxed island flavor.
Residents and visitors to Singer Island never want for things to do. The island is in close proximity to local cultural hubs such as the Kravis Center in West Palm Beach and the Maltz Theater in Jupiter, as well as some of the most fabulous nightlife in south Florida in Downtown at the Gardens in Palm Beach Gardens, or CityPlace in West Palm Beach. Fabulous shopping on Worth Avenue in Palm Beach or The Gardens Mall in Palm Beach Gardens are also just a short drive away.
Singer Island is directly adjacent to the Riviera Beach Marina. In addition to the dock space, the marina hosts events such as the Sailfish Marina & craft fair. A popular walk is along the docks at the Sailfish Marina where one can take in the sailboats, yachts, and sports fishing boats that call the marina home. If you're hungry, you can grab a bite to eat at the restaurant with the same name. As you might guess, fresh seafood is Sailfish's specialty. Order up the catch of the day and watch the boats come in from a long day on the water.
Peanut Island is a favorite weekend spot for Singer Island residents. Located in the middle of the Intracoastal Waterway just west of Singer Island, boats anchor out from Peanut Island on the weekends and enjoy the sandbar parties. Others dock on the tiny island and enjoy a few hours of hiking the nature paths, snorkeling the shallow waters, or just relaxing on the beach.
